Volunteer to help with the Skyline Elementary Rainwater Harvesting and Garden Project
Components of this project include installing a functional rain harvesting cistern system, monitoring water use in the school garden, and conservation education related to the water cistern. There will be many volunteer and leadership opportunities for participation from Sustainable Stillwater. Here are some:
• Landscape installation – moving from plans to installation - review ideas, adopt some features, obtain grants or donated supplies, recruit and organize volunteers, etc.
• Finalize design of rain cistern summer 2009 – get approvals, permits.
• Educational signage – design and create and install.
• Measure gallons of water saved (monitoring water use, watering of new landscape).
• Use experiences to continue education about rainwater harvesting for the community & Oklahoma.
Group meets weekly during the summer on Saturdays, starting as early as you can get there – some people plan to show-up at 7am to beat the heat.
Bring your gloves and tools; occasionally we might need a tiller or a wheelbarrow or 2. We usually have access to water.
The Skyline teachers will post a wish-work-list in a laminated folder on a door near the water fountain located next to the 65-ft. raised planter.
