OSN Chapter Toolkit
Thinking about starting an OSN chapter in your community or region?
Here are OSN chapter development guidelines:
- Develop a mission statement and submit it to the OSN State-wide President for approval by the Executive Committee.
- Invite a wide-range of local/regional citizens to the table for promotion of a common purpose.
- Hold regular discussion forums/committee meetings in your region.
- Develop and maintain your own bylaws (click here to see sample bylaws.)
- Maintain your own accounts (annual report to State OSN is required).
- Plan the OSN annual conference in your region on a rotating basis.
- Maintain your own website with a link to the State OSN website.
- Elect or select your own chair, who will serve on the State OSN board.
- Send electronic progress reports to the OSN on-line newsletter editor at least quarterly (click here to see
sample progress report.)
Each chapter's non-profit status affiliation will be based on approved
bylaws and financial audits. Tax-deductible donations to chapters must be made to the "Oklahoma Sustainability Network." Any donations will be deposited in full with the receiving chapter.
